PROJECT NEWS

Dec 3, 2019    The committee has selected two conceptual designs to present to the BOS in Janaury--one for a new building and one that is an addition and renovation to the existing building. More detailed cost estimates are being developed by a professional estimator and will be presented to the committee at a later date.
Nov 6, 2019    The dates of the committee's November and December meetings have been changed to Nov. 14 and Dec. 12.
Oct. 30, 2019   Tours of the Wilton Police Department scheduled for November 5 have been postponed.
Oct 21, 2019   The Board of Selectmen unanimously approved the committee's recommendation of Tecton Architects for the conceptual phase of the project.
Oct 7, 2019    The Statement of Requirements for the Wilton Police Department building project was unanimously approved by the Board of Selectmen.
Oct 2, 2019    A milestone schedule has been developed for getting the project to a May 5, 2020 referendum.
Sep 9, 2019    A Request for Qualifications & Proposals for Architectural and Engineering Services was issued today. The deadline for submissions is October 1, 2019, 12:00pm.
Apr 10, 2019   The critical repair needed for a portion of the Town Hall roof will be done as a restoration as opposed to replacement, costing  approximately half of what replacement expenses would be.
Mar 13, 2019   Due to the discussion and exploration of the potential regionalization of some municipal services (ie police dispatch) per proposed state legislation, the referendum for this project will likely be moved from November 2019 to May 2020.
Feb 19, 2019   The Board of Selectmen has appointed Matt Bezanson to the Police-Town Hall Building Committee.
Dec 17, 2018    The committee co-chairs provided a review of the need for and their process for recommending Colliers International for Owner's Program Management services for Phase I of the Police-Town Hall building project to the Board of Selectmen. The BOS unanimously approved a motion for the town to execute a contract with Colliers, not to exceed $40,000 for such services for Phase I of the project.
Dec 8, 2018    The new date of the committee's December meeting is Tuesday, December 11.
Nov 14, 2018    The committee's November monthly meeting has been postponed. A new date will be chosen to align with the RFQ's Selection Process schedule.
Nov 9. 2018     The Request for Qualifications for Owner's Project Management Services for this project has been issued and posted.
Sep 18, 2018     Going forward the relocation of any Town Hall departments to Comstock will be handled by Chris Burney, Director of Public Works & Facilities, rather than by this committee, allowing the building committee to focus solely on the Wilton Police Department, Annex and Town Hall buildings.
Sep 18, 2018     Executing the Statement of Requirements for the WPD will be the responsibility of the Police Commission. Executing the Statement of Requirements for Town Hall will be the responsibility of the Board of Selectmen.
Sep 17, 2018     Less than $25,000 has been spent to date by the committee, less than 2% of the funds approved at the May 2017 Annual Town Meeting. The expenses have been for architect consulting services and building and environmental inspections.
Aug 21, 2018     The committee voted to prepare an RFQ for the hiring of an Owner's Project Manager (aka Owner's Rep). Although Chris Burney provided this service for the last three years of the Miller-Driscoll Building Project, requiring the vast majority of his time, his responsibilities have expanded greatly (including now overseeing all school buildings in addition to town buildings, as well as managing the Public Works department), prohibiting him from being able to do the same for the Police-Town Hall Project.
Aug 21, 2018      The referendum on the project will be held November 5, 2019 (Election Day 2019).
Jun 19, 2018        To date, three potential general solutions have been broadly discussed and will be evaluated: a renovation + addition for the WPD building, a new WPD building, and a major renovation + addition to Town Hall to accommodate both TH offices and the WPD. Additional ideas may still be considered, as the committee is not taking anything off the table in its efforts to recommend the most cost effective solution that will improve the functionality of the WPD and town departments while optimizing space in town-owned facilities.
May 24, 2018     Recent emergency repairs to Town Hall have exposed deficiencies in the building, i.e. roof and HVAC system, that are much more extensive and serious than previously known.
Apr 2, 2018        The committee's web site has been launched to the public, www:WPDTownHallProject.org.
Mar 20, 2018      With the approval and at the direction of the Board of Selectmen, the Police HQ-Town Campus Facility Study Committee has been reconstituted as a Building Committee and three new members (David Johnson, Kathy Poirier, Jack Suchy) have been added.
